Public Lecture
Fikret Čaušević, "The Geopolitical and Economic Consequences of US-Chinese rivalry and Russian Aggression against Ukraine"
We are pleased to inform you that Fikret Čaušević will hold a public lecture on The Geopolitical and Economic Consequences of US-Chinese rivalry and Russian Aggression against Ukraine at the Hotel Bristol in Mostar on August 1, 2022. The lecture will start at 20.30 and is open to members and friends of International Forum Bosnia and the public.
Geopolitical understandings change quickly. Falling behind entails a reckoning with reality, as each part of the world is inevitably drawn into ongoing processes. Relations between the USSR/Russian Federation and the Liberal Democratic World were pre-set by the nature of the world during the later 20th century, a world whose bipolarity seemed a permanent fixture. Gone for a while, that bipolarity is back with a vengeance, albeit with a new set of rivalries on top. The Russian Federation's aggression against Ukraine has put in train processes that are set to change world political and economic conditions and more. Can the consequences of these changes be predicted? How will they affect conditions in Bosnia and Herzegovina? How can states with limited economic or political power anticipate and protect themselves from these changes? Fikret Čaušević, a leading Bosnian economists with a well-deserved international reputation and the author of Globalization, Southeastern Europe, and the World Economy (NY: Routledge, 2015), will address these issues for us this evening.
Academician Rusmir Mahmutćehajić, President of International Forum Bosnia, will moderate.
The lecture will be in English with translation into BHS.
